Garden on the hills
Napoli
The now highly urbanized hills that surround the city of Naples where once an idyllic countryside dotted with 18th century villas, some of them still in place, but now surrounded by busy streets, highways and tall condos built after world war two.
The project for this garden intends to reconstruct a fragment of that eighteenth-century rural landscape where there was still a balance between people and the environment. At the same time the garden makeover will adapt the place it to more contemporary needs.
A flowery pergola, a small domestic vegetable garden, an orchard and a swimming pool are arranged around a large central lawn, a space for playing, dancing and celebrating.
The plants selected are those typical of Mediterranean climates: colorful, aromatic and resistant to drought, thus making the management of the garden ecologically sustainable.
